Karwar: The localities once again exerted pressure on CMC to demolish the septic tank constructed in front of Sheik Apartment, at Kajubagh, in Karwar on Saturday.
The residents discussed the issue with CMC officials and elected representatives and based on objections raised by general public, CMC decided for removal of septic tank. With this decision, curtains fell on the controversial issue.
MLA Satish Sail, CMC President Ganpathi Naik, Urban Development Planning Officer RP Naik and CMC officials visited the spot.
The residents displaying the blue print, raised objections that the septic tank was constricting violating permission and hence should be demolished.
MLA Sail stated that there is no connection between the drainage and septic tank. The tank is located outside and the owner has left space require for road widening. Hence, directions were given to officials not to demolish the tank.
However the residents stated that the septic tank is constructed adjacent to the drainage and owner is making this move to release the drainage water for the apartment into the gutter. They even questioned the MLA for not making statements when hundreds of houses were partially demolished for road work.
CMC President Ganpathi Naik said, MLA was not aware of the ground reality and now, Sail has been given all information pertaining to this. The septic tank is not constructed as shown in the blue print. The owner had entered into quarrel with CMC officials when they came here to demolish it. However, CMC will demolish the septic tank, he added.
He further said, the house owners, commercial establishment owners have voluntarily given space for road widening. Delivering uniform justice to all is the motto of the CMC. If the owner demolishes the tank voluntarily, the CMC will appreciate his effort, if he fails to do so, the tank will be demolished under police protection, Ganpathi Naik said.
