Speaking at the Vijay Diwas programme, organised at INS Chapel Warship Museum premises, on Ravindranath Tagore Beach here, on Friday, he said soldiers should be respected and their sacrifice should always be remembered.
Protect the country
They would be ready for the war on any struggle to protect the country, he said. As a mark of respect to the Martyrs of India and Pakistan war of 1971, Vijay Diwas was organised on December 16 every year, he said. INS Kadamba Naval Base Comodore Dinesh Singh said all the three wings of the defence had been working in tandem to protect the country. The security personnel always keep a vigil on the protection of the country.
Earlier, the delegates offered floral tributes and offered salutes to the statue of Major Rama Raghoba Rane.
Ankola-Hubballi railway line special officer Sadashiva Prabhu, colonel Nagal and others were present.
The armed forces 2016 flag stamp was symbolically released on the occasion.
The widows and mothers of martyr soldiers were felicitated a part of Vijay Diwas programme.
