Karwar: Chief Election Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar visited a tribal village here on Tuesday and spoke to voters while lending a patient ear to theri problem. In a significant development to the electoral process in the state, the CEC visited Garadolli village in Haliyal taluk in Uttara Kannada district for the first time. He Personally scrutinised names on the voter lists to ensure everything was in order.
He sought details of the youth recently in the voter list to make sure that none was left out. The CEC spoke about the importance of election and said that they should actively participate in the electoral process. "You belong to the Scheduled Tribe community, and must participate in the electoral process and join mainstream society. By participating in the electoral process, you will uphold values of democracy," he said.
He later said he was extremely happy to interact with the villagers. Uttara Kannada Deputy Commisioner K Harish kumar and others joined him in the visit.
