Mangaluru: MLA UT Khader has asked the Union government to clarify its stand on the National Register of Citizens (NRC). He questioned the Union government for creating confusion over NRC.
“The Union government wanted to target one community, but the BJP has been sidelined because communities are uniting against CAA and NRC. People in villages are worried, and the government has to clarify its stand on NRC,’’ he said.
‘Trained to divide society’
MLA UT Khader lashed out at BJP leaders for making controversial statements targeting one community. Khader said, “They (BJP leaders) are trained to divide the society,” Referring to the surrender of suspect Aditya Rao in connection with the MIA case, Khader said, “Let them now open their eyes. Those who are in power are out of their minds and people have no alternative.” Referring to the suspect in the MIA case, he said, “Few leaders who were quick to react and target certain groups and a community were not thinking right,” he said.
Congress workers targeted
The MLA said that Hindu Congress workers who attended the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) protest rally at Shah Garden in Adyar recently are being targeted on social media, even women party workers are not spared. Party workers Purushotham Anchan and Chandini Harish are being targeted. They had approached the cyber police with a complaint against Kishore Shetty for posting hate messages on Facebook. The victim’s mother runs a tailoring shop and messages requesting people not to visit the shop had gone viral. Most of the posts have now been deleted, he said.
