Kumta: In a road accident involving collision of a car and a truck here on Divgi NH66 on the outskirts of Kumta, one person was killed, while another was injured. The incident happened on Saturday evening.

The deceased, identified as Manjunath Achari, resident of Byndoor was one among the passengers travelling in the car. The injured was also onboard the car.

Sources said that the incident happened when the car was heading towards Mangaluru from Hubballi, while the truck was moving towards Ankola from Mangaluru. Both had an head-on collision.

The injured were immediately rushed to Kumta government hospital.

The traffic jam was witnessed for few hours on the highway due to the incident.
