Kumta: Two persons riding on a bike were seriously injured in a collision between a car and a bike on Mirzan NH-66 in Kumta taluka on Thursday.

The injured have been identified as Soni Kumar Prameshwar Kolar, 29, and Varish Baswangowda Lakum, 29, of Shiralakoppa in Shimoga district.

According to the sources, the bike was heading from Sirsi towards Gokarna at a high speed and irresponsibly. When the duo riding in bike entered national highway near Mirzan, while crossing the highway, they were hit by a car heading towards Kumta from Ankola, as a result of which the duo fell down and were seriously injured.

The injured are being treated at Kumta Government Hospital.  ASI Niranjan Amdali is investigating the case. A case has been registered in this regard at Kumta police station.
