Sirsi: “Several development projects are being implemented with the support of the Union and State governments for the economic development of India which is one among the major trade partners of the British government,” said British Deputy High Commissioner Dominic McAllister who has an office in Bengaluru, reports from Sirsi.
Speaking to media persons during a stopover at Sirsi while on his way to Udupi on Monday, McAllister said that he was visiting all the districts in the State and discussing the need for various civil infrastructure and other necessities like the construction of bridges which connects many places. He said that many districts in the State were in want of various development projects, Hence, projects aiming at community development will be framed after discussing the issues with the respective deputy commissioners, local leaders and engineers.
He said that with an aim to boost trade and commerce between Britain and India, projects giving priority to the development of power, employment generation and urbanisation will be framed with the partnership of the State government. The British government was also extending support for the Smart city project. Even earlier, a leadership development programme for youths was implemented with the co-operation of Deshpande Foundation in Hubballi. He added that projects with community participation would be given top-most priority.
McAllister said that companies from Britain have done good business in south India and added that the British government had implemented a project to provide fellowship to 150 students from India with a focus on power development, human rights and skill development.
