MANGALURU: It is reported that BJP members of Parliament have plans to raise the issue in Parliament on July 18. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has already been contacted by state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa.
Uttara Kannada MP Anantkumar Hegde said, “There is a constitutional crisis in the state. The state is facing the danger of collapse of state machinery. I know this is a strong sentiment. But there is a big clash between the Legislature and the Executive. There is chaos in the government machinery. The attack on Mysuru Deputy Commissioner C Shika, suicide of two officers of the DySP rank - Kallappa Handibag and M K Ganapathy - have demoralised the bureaucracy."
“We will request the Lok Sabha Speaker to allow us to raise the Ganapathy issue”, Udupi-Chikkamaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje said.
M F Saldanha, former HC judge, talked about a constitutional crisis looming large on the state. “This is due to the clash between legilsature and executive. The suicides of DySPs are not ordinary events. They were driven to their doom by politicians. Arm -twisting and humiliation make them lose self esteem,” Justice Saldanha said.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary has sought the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramiah. He has stated that the partisan and communal attitude of the Chief Minister would destroy the Congress and he must wake up and act rationally before that.
