Udupi: Udupi district BJP unit has demanded Minister for Bengaluru Development and Town Planning K J George’s ouster as the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Mangaluru, M K Ganapathi, who committed suicide in Kodagu on Thursday, accused him of mental harassment.

Addressing reporters at the district BJP office on Friday, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde said that reports have revealed that a death note by the deceased officer names K J George.

“The dying declaration of the person would never have the incentive to fabricate facts and hence Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should immediately seek the resignation of K J George,” he urged. Hegde further said that the administrative system has completely collapsed in the state after Siddaramaiah-led Congress government came to power.

“There is no value for honest and upfront officers in the state. Starting with the suspicious death of sub inspector Mallikarjun Bande, sad demise of IAS officer D K Ravi, the episode of Kudligi DySP Anupama Shenoy’s resignation, the case of a former ZP president K Mari Gowda allegedly intimidating Mysuru DC C Shika, show that honest officials are leading insecure lives,” he said.

The death of Kallappa Handibag, a suspended DySP of Chikkamagaluru is another case that proves that there is no security for police officers. Hegde said that based on instructions from the state BJP leaders, future mode of fight against the state government will be taken up. BJP leaders Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, Bykadi Suprasad Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, Shrisha Nayak, Prabhakar Poojari and others were present.

Udupi district unit of BJP will hold a protest in front of the Clock Tower in Udupi on July 9 at 4 pm against the series of deaths of police officers in the state, stated district BJP spokesperson Katapadi Shankara Poojari in a press release.
