Bhatkal: A Bhatkal family met with a road accident after the car in which they were travelling overturned on Kundapur NH-66, as a result, one woman died on the spot, while her husband and four children sustained injuries. The incident happened around 6:30 PM on Monday.

Sources said that Suhana (26), a resident of Makhdoom Colony, Bhatkal, had been staying in Bhatkal for the past two to three days to attend a wedding ceremony at her home. On Monday, her husband Sibghatullah and her four children were traveling in a Maruti Suzuki Swift car to her in-laws place in Tonse near Kundapur, when the car overturned on the National Highway.

It is reported that a cow came in the mid of their way, in an attempt to avoid colliding it, the driver applied sudden brakes, which made the car topple and fell on the other side of the road. The woman died on the spot due to severe head injury.  

Immediately after the accident, Police reached the spot and took the injured to a nearby hospital, while the body of the woman was taken to the government hospital in a 24X7 ambulance.  

An eyewitness said that the four children and the husband in the car sustained minor injuries and are safe.  Their four children include a 3 months old girl, who lost her mother after the accident.

A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.
