Bhatkal: A 24-year-old youth lost his life after drowning in the Arabian sea here at Tengingundi in the taluk on Friday.

The deceased is identified as Faisal s/o Hifzzurahman Dangi.

Sources informed that the incident happened when the deceased youth had been near sea asking with his friends. Later at 11:30 AM, when he got into the sea for bath, during which the high tides in the sea drowned him.

It is reported that the locals who were present there, saw Faisal drowning in the waves and tried to save him, but when they failed, they informed the local leaders, who then rushed to the spot and recovered the young man out. He was taken to a government hospital, but he breathed his last on the way. 

It is learned that the youth had recently completed B.Com degree.

The body was handed over to the family members at around 3.30 PM after the postmortem. It has been reported that his father and uncle are returning from Dubai to pay their last respects to the deceased. After their arrival, funerals will be held on Saturday morning.
