Bhatkal to host District-Level Pro Kabaddi Tournament on May 9–10; April 27 last date for player registration

Bhatkal: A district-level Pro Kabaddi Tournament will be held on May 9 and 10 at the Taluk Stadium in Nawayat Colony, Bhatkal, with players from across Uttara Kannada district invited to register online and participate in team selection through a bidding process.

Addressing a press conference, Bhatkal Taluk Amateur Kabaddi Association Secretary Shridhar Naik said the tournament will feature a total of eight teams. Each team will comprise ten players, of whom eight will be selected through a bidding process. He urged kabaddi players across the district to make use of the opportunity by registering at the earliest through the official link. The last date for registration has been fixed as April 27.

Naik further said that the tournament will offer attractive cash prizes, with the winning team receiving ₹75,000, the runners-up ₹50,000, and the third and fourth-placed teams ₹25,000 each, along with trophies. Special arrangements are being made at the Bhatkal Taluk Stadium to accommodate kabaddi enthusiasts, with seating capacity for around 5,000 spectators.

Tournament Convener Azizur Rahman Ruknuddin Nadvi stated that each of the eight teams will have separate owners, and every team will consist of ten players. Out of these, team owners will select eight players through the bidding process, which is scheduled to be held on April 30.

Association Vice Secretary Sameer Hindustani said the tournament aims to promote communal harmony and unity. He expressed hope that players from all communities will be part of every team and that the event will serve as a platform to showcase brotherhood, unity, and mutual respect.

Association President Abdul Rauf Naite, District Vice President Jafar Haider, and members Prakash Naik and Inayat, among others, were present at the press conference.
