Bhatkal: The election of President and Vice President for Bhatkal Town Municipality took place this morning in which Mr. Parvez Khasimji was elected unopposed as the President and Mr. Qaisar Mohtasham for the post of Vice President.

It may be recalled that the 23-member Town Municipal Council has a majority of elected members with the support of Bhatkal's socio-political body Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem. Since the names of Parvez Khasimji and Qaisar Mohtasham were nominated by Tanzeem for the said posts, it was almost certain that both of them would be elected as President and Vice President respectively.

The election process started today in the presence of Bhatkal Tahsildar and Electoral Officer Ravi Chandra, wherein 22 out of 23 TMC members were present. Apart from Parvez Khasimji for President and Qaisar Mohtasham Vice President, no names were fielded, after which the Electoral Officer declared their victory.
