Bhatkal: Students in Bhatkal taluk have delivered an impressive performance in the SSLC (Class 10) examinations for the academic year 2025–26, achieving an overall pass percentage of 98.63% and securing second place in the Karwar educational district.
The Karwar educational district, which recorded an overall pass rate of 98.09%, secured the third position at the state level. Within the district, Honnavar taluk topped the rankings with 99.08%, followed by Bhatkal, while Ankola stood third with 97.78%.
Continuing the trend of previous years, girl students outperformed boys in Bhatkal, registering a pass percentage of 99.23%, compared to 97.83% among boys.
According to Bhatkal Block Education Officer (BEO) Venkatesh Nayak, 2,012 out of 2,040 students who appeared for the examination were declared successful.
In terms of medium of instruction, Kannada medium students led with 99.64%, followed by English medium at 98.68%, while Urdu medium recorded 92.14%.
School-wise performance remained strong across categories. Government schools achieved a pass percentage of 99.52%, unaided schools recorded 99.15%, while aided institutions registered 96.44%.
A major highlight of this year’s results is that 26 out of 37 high schools in the taluk achieved a 100% pass rate, underscoring the region’s academic strength. These include 12 government schools, 5 aided institutions, and 9 unaided schools, including both boys’ and girls’ institutions of Ali Public School.
Among individual toppers, Sanika Bailur of Karnataka Public School, Ternamakki, secured the first rank with 621 marks out of 625 (99.36%). Pratham Nagaraju Naik and Varshita Shivakumar Naik jointly secured the second position with 620 marks, while Vaibhavi Devanand Nayak stood third with 619 marks.
