Bhatkal: The miscreants have once again attempted to ruin the atmosphere of Bhatkal by putting a plastic bag full of meat at a temple of Naga Jataga Chowdi temple premises of Kokti Nagar in Bhatkal on Sunday, July 17.
The incident came to light when Krishna Gowda,a devotee, on Sunday morning, entered the Nagbana temple premises and found a bag of meat. Locals after coming to know of the incident gathered on the spot and condemned such type of incidents at the places of worship. They demanded that miscreants should be punished accordingly. PSI Revathi along with her team reached the spot and assessed the situation.
Bhatkal DySP Anoop Kumar Shetty met the leaders and assured that the culprits will be caught soon.

BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, enraged over the repeated incidents occuring in the temple, took a rally from the temple to the town police station and submitted a complaint to DySP Anoop Kumar Shetty through Honayya Sannu Gauda, the priest of the temple.
The BJP leaders said that such heinous acts of insulting the religious sentiments have been repeatedly occuring in Bhatkal and the police are unable to arrest the miscreants which in turn, have encouraged them. "The police are also aware of who is trying to disturb the peace and harmony of Bhatkal," they accused. They had also warned that a huge protest will be staged in the district, if no action is taken against the miscreants.
The Bhatkal social body, Majlis-e- Islah- wa-Tanzeem has also condemned the incident. The general secretary of the social organisation, Muhiyuddin Altaf Kharuri, spoke to the district incharge minister R V Deshpande and demanded him to take strict actions against the perpetrators.
Upon hearing the news, Zilla SP Vanshi Krishna and Deputy commissioner Nakul S immediately arrived at Bhatkal and investigated the spot, DySP Pramod Rao was also present.
