Bhatkal: Organiser BIFA team clinched the BIFA CUP 2017 state level Football tournament played here at Bhatkal taluka Stadium on Sunday.

Earlier BIFA A defeated Bangalore team while BIFA B defeated Belgaum team in their respective Semi finals, and finally BIFA A and BIFA B played in the final match in which BIFA A defeated BIFA B by 2 - 0 goals.

Winner of the tournament BIFA A pocketed Rs. 33,333 with trophy and Runners up BIFA B got Cash prize of Rs. 15,000 with trophy.

The three day tournament begane on Friday while the final match was played today, Sunday.

BIFA A defeated Shiroor, Honnawar, MFA Manki and Bangalore and entered into the finals, while BIFA B defeated Bagalkot, Kundapur and Belguam before they reached to the finals.

Total 20 teams from different districts of Karnataka state including Bangalore, Bagalkot, Belgaum, Mundgod and Udupi had participated in the tournament.

Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya who was present as chief guest distributed the trophies and cash prizes to the teams and the best players while Maulana Ansar Khateeb Madani, Ex president of Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation presided the final ceremony.

Founder of BIFA Mawiya Mohtesham was felicitated during the ceremony for his achievement in creating interest in Bhatkal youth for playing football and for developing BIFA (Bhatkal Inter Football Association)

Businessman Hifzurrahman Barmawer, Social worker Nazeer Kashimji, BIFA Founder Aheed Mohtisham and many others were present on the dais.
