Bhatkal: The accused, who was taken into custody on the charges of illegal construction of a house in a forest land, was reported to be kidnapped by a group of more than 10 people, when he had been taken for the medical checkup before arriving to the court. He was taken away by the kidnappers while he was about to produce before the court. The incident was reported on 13th Febraury, Monday.

The suspected kidnappers have been identified as Shripad Ganchkar, Natraj Naik, Madhav, Krishna Naik Vadigar and others.

It is said that the accused Uday Ganchkar, was arrested on the charges of illegally constructing a building in a forest land under survey number 143. Related to the matter, the forest officers had informed the accused's brother for the signature formalities.

As per the case, after filing a FIR, the accused was initially taken for a medical test at Bhatkal Govt hospital and was about to produce before court. Within that time, a group of more than 10 person arrived at the spot, harassed the officers and took away the accused. It is learnt that, during this incident, only 4 forest officials were handling the accused Uday Ganchkar, and therefore faced difficulty to overcome these hooligan Kidnappers. During this time, the kidnappers harassed the forest officers, pulled the accused Uday near them and fled away from the spot in a vehicle.

A case has been registered against the accused kidnappers and the entire issue was brought to the notice of court, sources said.
