Bhatkal: The District health officer of Uttara Kannada, Dr. Ashok, visited Bhatkal here on 14th March, Tuesday and carried out an inspection of the Bhatkal Government Hospital.
Recently, citizens had complained that the hospital was not providing TB injections due to which patients were suffering. SahilOnline had published a report on this matter a few days ago. Dr. Ashok demanded an explanation from the Taluka Medical Hospital Mr. Manjunath Shetty about the matter. He said that the hospital is equipped with all the necessary medicines and equipment.
When he asked as to why the hospital ambulance was not being used, Taluka Medical Officer Mr. Shetty explained that the vehicle was damaged in an accident three months ago and was still being repaired. Hearing this, District Medical Officer Dr. Ashok ordered the other vehicle 'Nagu-Magu' to be used as an ambulance temporarily. He also directed the officials to use the left entrance to take emergency patients and accident victims inside for treatment. Earlier, people had complained that taking patients from the main entrance was resulting in chaos. Dr. Ashok also directed the staff to clean up the area around the autopsy room.
During his stay in Bhatkal, Dr. Ashok visited Anjuman Noor primary school, Anjuman Azad primary school and Naunihal central school to inform their staff and head-masters about the Rubella injection.
