Bhatkal: Decennial celebration of BCWA on May 1

Bhatkal: The Taluk Building Construction Workers’ Association (BCWA–Hurulisal) has announced that it will organise International Workers’ Day celebrations along with its decennial (10th anniversary) programme on May 1 at the Public Sri Ganeshotsava Hall in Heble Gandhinagar.

Addressing a press conference, Association President Shridhar Naik said the programme, scheduled to begin at 10 am on Friday, will be inaugurated by Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water Transport Mankal S. Vaidya, who is also the Uttara Kannada district in-charge minister.

As part of the event, senior building workers who are no longer able to work will be honoured. Around 50–60 founding members of the association will also be felicitated and presented with mementoes in recognition of their contributions. Various organisational activities are also planned.

Several dignitaries are expected to attend as chief guests, including former MLA Sunil B. Naik, Labour Inspector of Bhatkal Circle Guruprasad Naik, Bhatkal DySP Girish B., Assistant Conservator of Forests Girish P. Bokkasa, Taluk Hospital Administrative Officer Dr Arun Kumar N.A., and advocate Manjunath Gonda, among others.

The association has appealed to all building workers in the taluk and the general public to participate in large numbers.
