Bhatkal celebrates 71st Republic Day with patriotic fervour

Bhatkal: The 71st Republic Day celebration was held with patriotic fervour and eye-catching display of culture at Taluka Stadium (YMSA ground) here on Sunday, January 26.

Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Sajid Ahmed Mulla hoisted the Indian Tri-colour after receiving the guard of honour.

Speaking after hoisting the Tri-colour, Assistant Commissioner, said, Democracy is not only a celebration but also a Nation festival. He said that after independence, the Indian Constitution was enforced to strengthen the country under a democratic system, on January 26, 1950. India has a unique identity and glory all over the world with its wonderful features. He urged every citizen to get involved in the development of the country.

Presiding over the event, MLA Sunil Naik said that the national festivals should not be limited to one particular day, but in this regard, we should constantly focus our attention on the new generation by teaching them about the freedom of the country.

Meanwhile, the achievers of various fields including social workers, government officials and sportsmen were felicitated. Many teams comprising NCC wings, police personnel and students participated in the march past. Various cultural programmes depicting the rich Indian heritage were presented.

Tahsildar V P Kotralli, RFO Sudarshan,  Taluk Panchayat Officer Prabhakar Chiknamani, BEO Munji, CPI Prakash MS, Municipality officer Devraj, Panchayat Cheif Officer Venu Gopal Shastri, Taluk Panchayat member Vishnu Devadiga and others were present on the stage.
