Bhatkal: At least five passengers were injured after a private bus overturned at Alvanki Ghat near Gersoppa in Honnavar taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Sunday evening.

According to sources, the private bus, Sri Kumar Travels, had left Bhatkal around 8:30 pm and was heading towards Bengaluru via Honnavar when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle at Alvanki Ghat near Gersoppa, causing it to overturn.

Five passengers sustained injuries in the mishap and were immediately shifted to the Government Hospital in Honnavar for treatment, sources added.

Police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and conducted an inspection of the site.

Gersoppa is located around 60 km from Bhatkal.

A case has been registered at the Honnavar Police Station and further investigation is underway.
