Bhatkal: Out of 1,32,935 voters in Bhatkal taluk, only 16,757 voters have linked Aadhar card with their voter ID card so far. Rest of the voters should also verify their voter ID card with necessary documents without delay, appealed Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Mamata Devi.
Speaking at a press conference at taluk administration office, she said that there are 140 polling booths in Bhatkal taluk. The work of linking Aadhar card with voter card has been going on since August 1. Voters can get their voter card verified by filling the form sample 6B and submitting any one of the 11 documents specified by the Election Commission apart from the Aadhar card. In this regard, a special campaign is being conducted from August 28, and voters are requested to make most of it. Similarly, many facilities are being provided including error in the voter list, deletion of names, change of booth, etc. A time period of one month will be given for complaints after publication of voter list, AC said.
Change of polling booths: Earlier, only once in a year the work of correcting the voters, additions, deletions, etc was to be done. Now it is facilitated four times a year. According to the demand of the voters, a proposal has been made to change the polling booths at Murdeshwar and Matadahatlu. AC also informed the Election Commission to take necessary steps in this regard.
