Celebration marked 68th republic day in Bhatkal.

Bhatkal: Spectacular parade by police personnel and NCC cadets and colourful presentation by students marked the 68th Republic Day celebrations at Taluka Stadium (YMSA Ground), Bhatkal on Thursday.

Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner M.N.Manjunath unfurled the tri-color and delivered the Republic Day message. Mr. Manjunath underlined the importance of the Constitution and the history of efforts and hard work by our leaders. Later, he reviewed the parade in which various units of the police and reserve police participated. Also, wings of National Cadet Corps (NCC), Scouts and other student wings participated in the parade.

In Parade March, Police wing, NCC senior Wing of Anjuman Degree College and PG Center and Beena Vaidya International School (girls)  were adjudged the first, second and third prize respectively, In School section, Beena Vaidya International School bagged first prize Sneha special school and Anand Ashram School wins second and third place respectively in parade March.

The parade and felicitation programmes were followed by colorful performance by students of schools from the Taluk.

Flag hoisting ceremony was also held in Majlis-e-Islah wo Tanzeem, Jamia Islamia, Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, besides all other schools, colleges and offices of the Govt Department.

Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya Preside over the function, while Tahsildar VN Badkar, TMC President Mohammed Sadiq Matta, CPI Suresh Nayak, ACF Nandish, Taluka Panchayat CEO C T Naik, BEO Venkatesh Patgar, Zilla Pnachayat members amongst many others were present.
