Karwar: Consumer should be aware about their rights and they should have knowledge of the laws enacted to protect their interests, said Zilla Panchayath CEO L Chandra shekhar Nayak.
He was speaking after inaugrating the world Consumer Day Programmme organised by Food, Civil supply  and Consumer affairs Department at government polytechnic here on Wednesday.

Various online trading companies too had been deceiving the consumers. The consumers should be submit the complaint immediately to the Consumers Forum. More than 80% of the consumers get suitable compensation. But the consumers should know about their rights so that they would not get cheated, he said.

District Bar Association President Uday Naik said that various laws were enacted to protect the interests of consumers. Officials concerned should implement them effectively and avoid the exploitation of consumers, he said.

Divekar Arts and Commerce college lecturer Keshava Bhatt delivered a lecture on consumer rights in digital age. Senior Civil Judge Devendra Pandit, governement polytechnnic principal V M Hegde and others were present.
