Mangaluru: Investigation Officer and ACP Tilakchandra has filed a charge sheet against Namo Brigade leader Naresh Shenoy and six others in the murder case of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga.
Baliga was killed on March 21 near his house at Kodialbail. The charge sheet was filed in the Third JMFC Court here on Thursday.
Shenoy, who has been absconding, has been named the prime accused. The other accused include Srikanth, resident of Shanthi Maidan at Kavoor and a close aide of Shenoy; Shivaprasad alias Shiva, a resident of Panjimogaru; Vineet Poojary, a resident of Padavinangady; Nishith Devadiga, a resident of Shakthinagar; Shailesh alias Shailu, a resident of Kotekar; and K Manjunath Shenoy alias Manju, a resident of Mann agudde. Poojary and Devadiga were arrested on March 27. The chargesheet has to be filed within 90 days. The police filed the charge sheet on Thursday as there is a possibility of accused getting bail, even though Shenoy is yet to be arrested.
