Karwar: Demanding permission to fish in Lukkeri stream in Kumta taluk, leaders of Ambiga community submitted a memorandum to the district administration on Wednesday.

“Since ages, more than 70 families of Ambiga community have been involved in Lukkeri stream which is a branch of Aghanashini River. They are earning a living through fishing. However, the fishermen have landed in trouble as the bridge has been closed down”, the added.

They complained that some people are giving misleading information to the government and in turn, the boats and fishing nets of the fishermen have been snatched away.

Gangadhar Ambiga, Lakshman Ambiga, Gopal Ambiga, Ranghavendra Ambiga, Sudhakar and were present.
