AIMPLB announces Nationwide protests, legal action against Waqf Amendment Bill 2025

New Delhi: Following the approval of the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced preparations for nationwide protests and legal action against the bill.

The Board’s General Secretary, Maulana Mohammed Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, strongly condemned the bill’s passage despite widespread opposition from Muslim organizations, religious groups, and justice-seeking citizens, calling it a dark chapter in India’s democratic history. He accused the ruling establishment of being intoxicated with power and fostering an atmosphere of division and hostility, with the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 being a part of this broader agenda.

Maulana Mujaddidi emphasized that the bill, introduced under the pretext of benefiting Muslims, is entirely unacceptable and poses a grave threat to waqf properties. He expressed deep regret that the government disregarded the objections of AIMPLB, other Muslim organizations, opposition MPs, and civil society groups. He criticized this authoritarian approach, stating that it is unacceptable in a democracy.

Nationwide Protests and Legal Battle Planned
The Board’s General Secretary made it clear that AIMPLB will not remain silent and is preparing to launch nationwide protests while also pursuing legal action. Discussions regarding legal strategies and protest movements are currently underway, and a formal announcement will follow soon.

"We urge not only Muslims but all justice-loving citizens to await the Board’s announcement. Once we call for protests, everyone must participate with full force to compel the government to recognize its mistake and repeal this bill," he stated.

Maulana Mujaddidi further explained that the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 is highly detrimental and destructive, as it will create serious complications and challenges. He insisted that the government must withdraw it at all costs.

Praise for Opposition, Criticism of BJP Allies
Maulana Mujaddidi commended opposition leaders, political parties, and Members of Parliament who strongly opposed the bill in both houses of Parliament. He acknowledged their awareness, responsibility, and commitment to democratic values, stating that AIMPLB is grateful to all parties that took a stand against the bill. He further expressed hope that they would continue supporting efforts to repeal this unjust legislation.

However, he sharply criticized BJP’s allied parties, particularly Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Chirag Paswan, and Jayant Chaudhary, for betraying Muslims by siding with the ruling government.

"Muslims have always supported these leaders due to their so-called secular image, but their betrayal will never be forgotten. Sooner or later, they will have to face the consequences of their actions," he added.
