Aadhar linking mandatory for ration cards

Karwar: The government has made linking of Aadhar card number mandatory for ration cards for availing food subsidy. Therefore, at least one if the family members of the ration card holders should link the unique identification number with the ration card by providing a copy of the Aadhar card to the ration card top the ration shops in their limits before June 30, said Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul.

He said the district has 2,64,502 ration card holders have linked their Aadhar with the ration card. 93 percent of people have provided their Aadhar number and till now, 73 percent of linking process has been completed. Details of those who have not given Aadhar numbers have been sent to the respective ration shops. The ration card which have not been linked with the Aadhar cards may automatically get cancelled in case it is not linked before June 30, Nakul said.

For those who do not have Aadhar cards, Aadhar Registration Centre’s have been opened in all Nada Kacheries and Tahsildar’s office in the district. Apart from this, 21 mobile Aadhar kits are available in the district.

These kids will be provided in case of some gram panchayat having more number of pending Aadhar registrations, he said.
