Mangaluru: The Palakkad Division of Southern Railway has introduced an additional point of sale (PoS) machine at the passenger reservation counters of the Mangaluru Central Railway Station.

The move is aimed at facilitating cashless transaction through debit/credit cards, said an official release from the division.

The Indian Railways has already decided to install 10,000 PoS machines with assistance from the State Bank of India across the country.

The release said PoS machines would be provided at Pollachi, Palakkad Town, Palakkad Junction, Ottappalam, Shoranur, Angadippuram, Malappuram, Tirur, Feroke, Satellite PRS Counter at Kozhikode Medical College , Wayanad, Vadakara, Mahe, Tellicherry, Kannur, Payyannur, Kanhangad, Kasargod, Mangaluru Junction and Mangaluru Satellite Counter (functions near Mangluru City Corporation Office) in three days.

The scheme will be extended to Integrated Passenger Reservation/Unreserved ticketing system counters in the next stage.
