Karwar: A main accused in an accident case occured in Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi by Yellapur police. He was attempting to fly Israil but the police interrupt at the airport and brought him back to Yellapur. He has been identified as Oriya Shlomo (24), a resident of Tel Aviv city of Israel
Yellapur CPI, Vijay Biradar said "He was accused in an accident case and he was flying to Israel from Delhi airport on Sunday, our police team including Yellapur PSI Sridhar and head constable Nagappa arrested him and brought him to Yellapur on Monday night," he said.
On January 18, Oriya was riding to Hubballi from Ankola on Royal Enfield bike with his girlfriend. Near Arebail area of Yellapur taluk, he hit another two-wheeler which was proceeding to Ankola from Yellapur. In the accident, Mani Govind Kunabi, rider of another two-wheeler suffered serious injuries and admitted to a private hospital in Hubballi. Oriya also suffered minor injuries and admitted to a hospital.
On January 20, injured Mani died in the hospital, at the time Oriya escaped from the hospital and went to Goa. He fled to Delhi from Goa and was planning to fly to his country on Sunday. Meanwhile, Yellapur police informed all international airport authorities and sent pictures and passport details of Oriya.
Officials of Delhi airport informed Yellapur police about the accused and the team of Yellapur police went to Delhi and arrested Oriya. On Tuesday, Oriya presented before a court and sent to judicial custody till February 4, said the police.
