Bantwal: Around 500 migrant workers, including men, women and children, frustrated on not getting an opportunity to travel back to their home town in Jharkhand State and had set out on foot on Tuesday night were persuaded by the police officials and public to stay back by assuring that their travel arrangement will be made within three days.

Finally, the workers bowed before pressure and agreed to camp at the Buntara Bhavan at Bantwal where food arrangements were also made for them under the leadership of Mangaluru MLA Vedavyas Kamath. The authorities had stopped the workers at Arkula where senior officials including the Superintendent of Police interacted with them.

Meanwhile, some good Samaritans of the locality had made arrangements for water and fruits for the migrants at Farangipete and Thumbay on coming to know that the workers had set out on foot.
