Protest against forest land to be held on 19th March, Sunday

Karwar:  There were 88,727 application filled for the people and communities who stay in the forest area, with regard to the act implemented by the Karnataka state government. But according to the sources, 24,162 applications have been discarded.

The president of the committee formed for the Atikarm landholder, Mr. Ravindra Naik said that there will be rally by the name 'Atikaraman horata rally' on 19th  March, Sunday. The main moto of this rally is to highlight people about the intricacies exposed on those who live in the forest land. He said failure in the bestowing forest rights to the people is the result of failure of law. This rally will also cover the protest on the draft notification by the castoori rangan stating as on the basis of pollution the western-ghat area is the most sensitive place.

He said, hiking will start from 17th of march from Banavasi and will on the third day in Yellapur.  This is not for the cause of any political gains. Whoever is interested in the benefits in forest land are welcomed​.  In the list of rejected application, Sirsi is in the first spot with 4,379 and Bhatkal is on the second spot with 4,200 rejected list.
