Udupi: A 23-year-old woman died of severe burns while lighting a kerosene pump stove on 5th February, Sunday night.

According to the Hiriyadka police, a deceased victim identified as Mamatha alias Chaitanya was lighting the kerosene pump stove in her house to cook dinner. Due to certain negligence, her saari caught fire, resulting to cause high flame. When she started shouting, her husband, Jayaram, who was outside, ran into the house and covered her with a blanket to rubout the fire.

She was rushed to the Kasturba Hospital in Manipal where she died of severe burns. 

A case was registered.
