906 houses being constructed in Mundagod under G+2 scheme: Hebbar

Mundagod: Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar stated that construction works of 906 houses in residential layouts in the town are going on under the G+2 scheme.

However, only 200 beneficiaries have paid their contribution for the construction of houses. The remaining should pay the amount at the earliest, he said, and added that soon an order would be issued for the construction of 500 houses in Mundagod.

He noted this while speaking after handing over order letters to the beneficiaries selected under the Housing Scheme, during a programme held at Town Panchayat town hall here on Wednesday.

He called upon town the panchayat members to convince the shelterless people, who have been selected under the scheme to pay their individual instalments at the earliest. A kalyan mantap would be built at a cost of Rs eight crore adjacent to the housing complex. Around 2,500 to 3,000 people would get housing facilities in the complex, he noted.

At a time when the government is spending crores of money to ensure houses for the shelterless people, the beneficiaries should come forward to confirm their houses by paying the amount fixed by the government. They have to contact the town panchayat executive officer or members, he said.

"It would be difficult to implement any housing scheme in the town in the future, as there is a lack of open land in Mundagod. Hence, people should try to get houses in the complexes, instead of planning to construct independent houses," he appealed.

Town Panchayat President Renuka Haveri, vice-president Manjunath Harmalkar, standing committee president Shakuntala Talwar, executive officer Mallayya Hiremath, junior engineer Shankar Dandin, and members were present.
