Kalaburagi: A 60-year-old woman was found murdered at her house in Khajuri village at Aland taluk in Kalaburagi district in the early hours on Friday by a 15-man group which also took away gold jewellery weighing over 300 grams. The woman, identified as Sonabai Bande, her three grandchildren and a relative were sleeping after attending a temple fair in the town when the incident occurred.

According to Sridevi, relative, the group knocked on the door seeking water to drink and entered the house forcibly. The group members started beating Sonabai Bande with wooden sticks and then, fled with the gold jewellery weighing over 300 grams estimated at Rs. 9 lakh, and silver ornaments.

Sridevi, who suffered injuries, was admitted at a private hospital in Umarga, Maharashtra. According to the police, Sonabai Bande’s killers are suspected to be close to the family.

Aland police, who have registered a case, have launched investigation. Superintendent of Police N. Shashikumar visited the spot.
