Karwar: District In-charge Minister RV Deshpande, recently initiated the scheme to distribute two kg additional rice to families, under ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme on 17th April, Monday.

Speaking after distributing additional rice to be beneficiaries, at Haliyal in the district, he said, "each member of BPL families would get 7 kg rice form April 1, as per the budget announcement."

Building a self-reliant hunger-free State is the mission of the government.

Families with LPG connection would get one litre kerosene every month, Deshpande said.

He also noted that the rice given by the government should not be sold in the market.
