Bengaluru: Two Bills - one pertaining to the safety of students in all educational institutions and another pertaining to general transfer of government school teachers - were passed in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday without a debate.

The Bills were taken up at a time when BJP members had staged a walkout to express their disappointment over Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's reply on the budget proposals for 2017-18.

The Karnataka Education (Second Amendment) Bill, 2017 empowers the government to make provisions to ensure safety of students in all schools, including those affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and tutorials, in the state.

According to the Karnataka State Civil Service (Regulation of Transfer of Teachers) (Amendment) Bill, 2017, teachers who have completed10 years of service in urban areas will be transferred to rural areas.
