Karwar: The district administration has issued instructions to stay in the home quarantine for 12 passengers who arrived in the Uttara Kannada district from United Kingdom following a new outbreak of Coronavirus.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar said that 8 persons in the Tibetan camp of Mundgod, 2 persons in Dandeli and Kumta taluks have travelled from England. All these persons had reached the district on different dates. Some of them have been here for more than 14 days. Despite this, a throat swab sample was obtained from everyone and sent for testing.

The deputy commissioner assured the people that there was no need to panic for the new strain of COVID. A list of all people arriving in the district from the UK has been obtained and they have been instructed to remain in quarantine. No one is showing any signs of illness, he noted.
