Mangaluru: Perfection in any art not only helps the artist to achieve the utmost position in life, but also helps the artform he represents to attain its peak, said India’s premier classical saxophonist Kadri Gopalanath.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the 10-days Dakshina Kannada district ‘Karavali Utsav’ at Kadri Park on Friday.
Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said, “This is the first time in the history of Karavali utsav, that the taluk-level ‘Karavali Utsav’ has been orgainsed in every taluk in order to give opportunities to local talent.”
“Dakshina Kannada district is known for different fests, and the celebration of every festival in the Dakshina Kannada district is always unique. Artists should utilise this opportunity properly,” he added.
Earlier in the day, a procession was taken out from near the Karavali Utsav grounds, in which over 70 different troupes like ‘Yakshagana’, ‘Dollu Kunita’, ‘Kolata’, ‘Gumte Kunita’, ‘Veeragase’, ‘Doddata’, ‘Halakki Kunita’, ‘Kamsale’, Goravara Kunita’ and others participated.
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader inaugurated the procession.
