Bhatkal: Hundreds of women on Monday afternoon turned up at massive anti-CAA protest meet organized under the aegis of Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem here at Anjuman Boys'High School Ground in Nawayath colony.
Present as the guest in the protest meet, Swati Khanna, a Delhi based law student, addressing the protestors, said, as 'Hum Kagaz Nahi Dikhayenge' has been our declaration, the NPR authorities won't ask for papers from us, but they will try to gather information. Hence, neither we have to provide papers, nor share our information.
She said that according to this draconian law, irrespective of religion, if anyone fails to prove their citizenship of this country, will be put in the detention centre. Hence, we will have to face severe situations the after making rounds of courts until citizenship is proven. "This is a democratic nation, where citizens rule, not kings. We have made the Constitution safe for ourselves," she noted.
Further speaking, another guest, Sumaiya Nomani D/o prominent Islamic scholar Maulana Sajjad Nomani, called on women to stand ready to face the challenges of the country, which has come to a standstill in the historical period of the great nation. The condition of law and order in the country has gone worsened. We will never tolerate those who spread unrest in the country. Even if countless barriers stand against us, we will fight it. But we will not leave the country split again.
The protest meeting began with the recitation of verses from the holy Quran by Bibi Ruqayya, the Constitutional preamble was read by Sanila, while Nabira Mohtesham introduced the guests.
