Karwar: Deputy Commissioner K Harishkumar said that criminal cases would be filed against those spreading fake news/rumours related to Covid-19 on social media.

The tahsildars of the respective taluks have been given the powers to take action in this regard.

"We must ensure that people restrict themselves to their homes for the next two weeks.

Forwarding/sharing baseless messages or those whose genuinity is not known must be stopped.

Do not instigate anyone's feelings without knowing the truth," the DC added.
