Haliyal: MLA R V Deshpande has directed the chief executive officer of Underground Drainage works to ensure that the public should not face any problems due to the UGD works which have been taken up in the taluk and roads should be
dug using modern technologies.
He noted this while speaking during the progress review meeting of UGD works being held in Haliyal and Dandeli, held at Town Municipal Council auditorium in the town on Wednesday.
He said, earthmoving machines are being used to dig the roads for UGD works, which is resulting in the destruction of several other roads in the town. This problem should be sorted out at the earliest and mud collected after digging the roads should be transferred immediately.
Engineers should be compulsorily present with the contractors at the workplaces and maintain the quality of works. Visitor book should be maintained in all the workplaces, he said and asked the town municipal council executive officer to pay flash visits to the workplaces along with engineers.
The officials concerned should remain at the workplaces during the working hours. They should respond to the complaints of the public within no time and quality of works should not be compromised, he warned.
UGD project senior officer said, advanced technology is being used for digging the roads. As per the tender agreement, a 53 kilometres road was supposed to be dug in Haliyal, however, it has been increased to 61 kilometres now.
He ensured that the public will not face any problems with the UGD works.
Meanwhile, the MLA chaired the meetings of Bagar Hukum and Ashraya Samiti.
