Honnavar: Under the Manipal Health Card scheme, Rs 5.98 crore discount has been given on the medical treatment for the patients in one year, said Manipal Kasturba Hospital Marketing Division Deputy Manager Mohan Shetty.

Speaking to media persons here, he said, in the previous financial year, nearly 2.5 lakh health cards were distributed to the patients. Out of them, 48% have been facilitated as outpatients and 18% were given medical treatment as inpatients. 

In terms to reach the facilities of the scheme to a large number of people, the department concerned has the aim of distributing five lakh health cards this year. The patients can get treatment on discount at Manipal, Dakshin Kannada, and Goa Manipal Hospitals, he added.

One has to pay Rs 250 as an annual fee for an individual card under the scheme. One can get a family card at Rs 500, family card including mother, father, mother-in-law, and father-in-law will be provided at Rs 650. Rs 400, Rs 700 and Rs 850 should be paid respectively for getting the subscription of two years. People can get the cards at Manipal information centre or from agents, he informed.

The treatment for cancer is available at Kasturba Hospital, in which the patients including children to aged persons can get complete health facilities, he said.

The government has implemented the scheme to reach the health facilities to the every last person in society. Hence, the officials concerned should work honestly to facilitate the poor and needy people, he directed.
